Glasgow Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony

Info and credits

From the Scottish Highlands to the streets of Glasgow, our content for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony drew on Scotland’s folklore and history. We designed and built content for the giant curved LED screen backdrop, taking a cinematic approach to Scotland’s landscapes, landmarks and symbols, made to translate both in the arena and full-screen for the global broadcast. As the athletes entered, the hills filled with native flora and fauna for each continent, growing alongside the living garden of the stage, and each nation was announced with a 3D recreation of its hand-painted baton. The Loch Ness monster surfaced at the centre of the show, working alongside a giant Nessie prop as water simulations rippled out across the screens, turning the stage into the banks of the loch. The musical performances moved through the city’s nightlife, Scotland’s industrial and inventive heritage and Glasgow’s murals, with a tribute to Kenmure Street in a standout moment depicting “These are our neighbours”. This honoured Glasgow’s activist roots, reinforcing the pride felt across the arena throughout the event.
